Denmark brothers, Jy and Jake Drummond, became National Champions over the weekend at the 2024 Auscycling MTB Enduro National and Oceania Championships held in Collie, Western Australia.

The enduro racing format sees riders racing against the clock in a series of downhill stages, with the final results coming down to the millisecond.

Older brother Jake, 16, won the Under 17 category, competing against the top riders from the state and Australia. “After coming second in the State Championship in Geraldton, I had my eyes set on winning the National event. I’m stoked to come away with the win.” Jake said.

Younger brother Jy, 14, who won the state championship earlier in the year, was five seconds ahead of second place in the Under 15 category, “the family has dedicated a lot of time for training and racing this year, and to finish it off with a National championship is the best outcome.”

Proud father and Denmark Mountain Bike Club President, Brad Drummond said “the boys have been training hard all year for this event and to see them both take out the championships is an awesome result.”

The Drummond boys will now head over to Tasmania next month to compete in the EnduroJam event, two days of jam format enduro racing and unlimited opportunities to set the fastest lap time.

In the Senior event on Sunday, local rider Kaiden Godden finished in the Top 10 in the Men’s Elite category and both Lachie Collins and Robert Glynn finished in the Top 20 in the highly competitive Mens Under 21 category.
